Richard & Shannon Jenkins Funeral Directors originate from Liverpool’s oldest independent family funeral service. Since 1880, the Jenkins name has been synonymous with professionalism and dignity, serving families throughout Merseyside for over 140 years. Richard and Shannon Jenkins, who own and run the business, are the fourth generation. Richard Jr, Ryan and Barry, who also work in the firm, represent the fifth generation of the Jenkins family.
Brother and sister team Richard & Shannon opened their independent funeral firm just four years ago. They have since built up a thriving and well-respected business conducting more than 500 funerals annually from their Allerton Road, Liverpool premises. With the company now well established, the Jenkins family have invested in a full fleet of brand-new PilatoMercedes vehicles from Superior UK Automotive Ltd. Richard Jenkins Jr explains why the family invested in their beautiful new fleet, including a Pilato hearse and two matching Lyra limousines.
Richard commented, “We set out to be the best in the area and have achieved so much within a short space of time – we strive to deliver excellence throughout our services, and this had to include our vehicles, so our next move once we were fully established was to upgrade our fleet.” He added, “We were unimpressed with many of the boxy, old-fashioned hearses on offer in our local area and wanted something modern and stylish – the best of the best for our families.”
The Jenkins family approached Superior UK’s Greg Platt to discuss a new PilatoMercedes fleet and soon had a beautiful black metallic Polaris and two matching Lyra limousines on order, all of which were delivered earlier this year.
Richard commented, “They are just stunning – we get so many lovely comments from people, and the families who have used them for funerals feel that the vehicles made the final journey for their loved one extra special.” He added, “Running this beautiful fleet in Liverpool four years into our new business is an achievement we are all very proud of.”
With a brand new fleet and an enviable reputation, the family are now ready to expand the business and looking for the perfect location for a second branch. The Jenkins family work hard to provide an exemplary service for their community, and it seems the people of Liverpool agree that they are getting it spot on – Richard and Shannon Funeral Directors have just won the Northern Enterprises Award 2022 for Funeral Director of the Year in Merseyside.
