For over four decades, Melvin Rowlands Funeral Services, a family-run, independent funeral director, has been a pillar of support for bereaved families across the island of Anglesey in Wales. The popular and well-respected firm, based in Llangefni, also owns John O. Williams and Sons Funeral Directors, located in nearby Beaumaris, which serves communities on the other side of the island.
The business is owned and run by founder Melvin Rowlands, his wife, Eleri, and their daughter, Manon. The Rowlands recently took delivery of a brand-new Mercedes-Benz Vito removal vehicle from Superior UK Automotive Ltd.
Melvin Rowlands explains why investing in a Superior Vito was the right choice for his firm and why quality service is crucial for operating a small family business.
Melvin commented, ‘We began looking for a new removal vehicle, and our first port of call was Superior’s Greg Platt. We purchased a used Binz limousine through Greg three years ago. We were very impressed with the quality of the vehicle and even more so with the quality of service we received – an excellent example of proper customer care and attention to detail.’
He added, ‘Buying a brand new fleet vehicle is quite an investment for any business; however, we were confident a Superior Vito would be the right choice for us. The premium ‘Rise&Fall’ deck is a superb design, fit for purpose and built with quality materials engineered to last. It looks professional and dignified inside and out, enabling us to give the highest level of care to bereaved families at first call.’
The new graphite-grey Superior Vito with a bespoke deck was hand-delivered by Greg in May this year and has proven to be a hard-working asset to the business.
Melvin commented, ‘Our new Vito is a huge improvement on our single deck removal vehicle bought elsewhere; it’s easy to use and ticks all the boxes. It’s ideal for direct cremations, which have become increasingly popular in recent years. We can carry up to four deceased on our collections back and forth from hospital throughout the UK, and the covert MPV exterior and hearse-like interior gives families the right impression of care and dignity when collecting from the home of the deceased or a hospice.’
He added, ‘What matters most to us is the quality of care and the service we provide families – six years ago we moved to our beautiful new premises where we have space to hold inclusive services for 60-70 people of all faiths as well as non-religious funeral services. We strive to deliver the highest standards of dignity and professionalism, and the investment in our new Vito is an important part of that.’
