Nethercott Funeral Services go electric with their new LEVC VN5 removal vehicle

Chas A Nethercott & Son is an independent, family-run funeral firm with branches in Potters Bar & Radlett. The company was originally established in 1911 by Charles Nethercott and is now run by Charles’ Grandson, Chas Nethercott and his daughters Victoria and Charlotte. The Nethercott family proudly continue their long tradition, providing funeral services throughout Hertfordshire, North London & beyond.

Being based close to and regularly serving areas within London’s Ultra Low Emission Zone meant when it came to extending their ambulance fleet they were keen to embrace electric technology. “We needed a reliable removal vehicle capable of true zero-emissions transport” Chas Nethercott, Managing Director and founding member of SAIF explained, “the VN5 complies with even the strictest clean air zones and was the right fit for us”.

Superior UK Automotive Ltd, who are collaborating with LEVC, agree. “The VN5 was a great choice” commented Jon Helm of Superior “it features an onboard range extender which completely removes range anxiety – it offers all the benefits of a removal vehicle with none of the environmental downsides.”

Superior UK then began the transformation from an electric van to a functioning electric removal vehicle. “We needed a bespoke, high specification deck fitted and Superior UK certainly delivered” said Chas “the attention to detail and craftsmanship is superb – we couldn’t be happier”.

Over the next few years, cities around the country are introducing clean air zones (CAZs) in a bid to reduce pollution and improve quality of life for residents. Jon Helm added, “It’s exciting to be able to offer something different to the modern funeral director as the industry gradually transitions to electric”.
