Smith family’s business decision means a Superior future for funeral directors
Customers of Peter Smith and family, who have been supplying vehicles to the funeral business for more than 25 years, are set to see a return of the company’s legendary Superior customer service.
After a private family decision, the Smiths can reveal the new business name: Superior UK Automotive. They are now based in Aldermaston, Berkshire, just a few miles from their previous headquarters in Reading.
“Our customers will see a few changes now we are Superior UK Automotive,” said Managing Director Peter Smith, who has been in the funeral vehicle business for decades. “We think the biggest change is that our team can now be more hands-on. By restructuring, we have freed up more time to go back to our roots, seeing customers, looking after them personally and maintaining those relationships.
The Smith family name is synonymous with integrity, trust, and quality, and their time in the industry tracks the history of many of their customers. “We recognise the importance of the family,” said Peter’s son Kevin Smith, “and we also recognise the importance of quality vehicles. Funeral vehicles are our customers’ second biggest business investment, after their premises. We are proud to be able to continue our tradition of supplying quality vehicles which have Mercedes Benz approval.” As a family business, the Smiths have an 82% return business ratio.
Superior UK Automotive will continue to manage operators of Binz products, as previously. “We are building for the future, not for yesterday,” commented Peter Smith. “The new business will offer an exciting range of funeral vehicles that are superior in name and in design. We look forward to letting you know more as time goes on. The excellence continues!”
